“TẾT NHÂN ÁI” (HUMANITARIAN TẾT) MOVEMENT – SPRING BÍNH NGỌ 2026: OVER 1.3 MILLION GIFT PACKAGES DELIVERED, NEARLY 98% OF TARGET ACHIEVED
(Quick report as of 09 February 2026)
The Viet Nam Red Cross Society (VNRC) is implementing the “Tết Nhân ái” (Humanitarian Tết) Movement for Spring Bính Ngọ 2026 nationwide, with the active participation of the entire political system, the business community, and people from all walks of life. The movement aims to ensure that poor households, people in difficult circumstances, and vulnerable groups are able to enjoy a warm and dignified Lunar New Year.
According to the latest quick report, as of 09 February 2026, Red Cross chapters at all levels nationwide have provided support through more than 1.3 million gift packages (reaching 87% of the target), with a total value of VND 731 billion (equivalent to 97.5% of the planned target). Across the entire Red Cross system, 112 “Tết Nhân ái” programmes have been organized following the integrated model of “Humanitarian Fair – Gift Distribution – Joyful Tết Celebration”, flexibly designed to suit local conditions.
This year’s movement recorded many new highlights, clearly reflecting an innovative, people-centred approach. For the first time, the “Humanitarian Tết Week” was simultaneously organized at the commune and ward levels nationwide, bringing Tết support activities closer to people within their own communities, while promoting the role and responsibility of grassroots Red Cross chapters in humanitarian work.
At the central level, the Viet Nam Red Cross Society organized 10 large-scale “Tết Nhân ái” programmes, the largest ever to date, supporting 11,200 beneficiaries with a total value exceeding VND 11.957 billion. These programmes were held in 10 provinces and cities (Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, Hue, Lam Dong, and Quang Ngai), combining Tết gift distribution with activities rich in traditional cultural atmosphere such as Humanitarian Tết Markets, zero-cost stalls, cultural and artistic performances, folk games, calligraphy gifting, and free haircuts—helping people celebrate a warm, joyful, and meaningful Lunar New Year.
Notably, the programme “Tết for Flood-Affected Communities” was implemented in 19 provinces and cities, providing support to 12,627 households affected by natural disasters in 2025, with a total value of VND 11.9 billion. The programme not only helped people stabilize their lives and celebrate Tết safely, but also spread the spirit of solidarity, social responsibility, and the long-standing humanitarian tradition of mutual support.
To ensure the Movement is implemented in a unified and effective manner, the Viet Nam Red Cross Society (VNRC) Central Committee issued guiding and directive documents, standardized the communication identity, and strengthened coordination with ministries, sectors, and local authorities. On that basis, 100% of provincial and municipal Red Cross chapters developed implementation plans; notably, 28 out of 34 provincial and municipal chapters successfully advised provincial Party Committees and People’s Committees to issue official directive documents, ensuring synchronized and coordinated implementation at the local level.
During implementation, the VNRC Central Committee allocated resources in three phases to directly support 32 provinces and cities, with a total budget of nearly VND 22.9 billion mobilized from domestic and international sources. Specifically, resources included over VND 7.77 billion from the “Joining Hands to Overcome Floods” Campaign (H2025 – Vietcombank); more than VND 3.6 billion contributed via the Benevity online fundraising platform; VND 1 billion from SilkRoad Hanoi Joint Stock Company; over VND 6.7 billion sponsored by the Coca-Cola Foundation and Coca-Cola Viet Nam for disaster relief and “Tết Nhân ái” activities; VND 6.65 billion from Heineken Viet Nam Brewery Company Limited; nearly VND 600 million from Manulife Viet Nam Life Insurance Company Limited; among other contributions. The VNRC also implemented the fundraising campaign “One Million Humanitarian Tết Gifts” on the Thiện Nguyện platform (Account No. 2022 – Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank), mobilizing over VND 1.4 billion to support disadvantaged people during Tết.
The “Tết Nhân ái” Movement for Spring Bính Ngọ 2026 is still ongoing in many localities nationwide, continuing to affirm the core role and humanitarian bridge of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society in mobilizing social resources to care for the poor and vulnerable, contributing to ensuring that everyone, everywhere, can welcome the Spring and celebrate Tết in safety, warmth, and dignity.
