INTRODUCTION
The Vietnam Red Cross Society is a social humanitarian organization, founded on November 23, 1946 by State President Ho Chi Minh. President Ho Chi Minh is the first Honorary President of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, for the period 1946 – 1969.
The National Society brings together all Vietnamese people, both at home and abroad, regardless of their ethnicity, religion, gender in humanitarian activities.
The National Society’s noble goals are humanity, peace, friendship, and to contribute to the goal of a wealthy people, strong nation, democracy, equality, and civilization. The National Society cares for and supports materially and mentally for those who are in difficulties, victims of war, people affected by natural disasters and calamities; participates in providing community-based health care to the people; disseminates organizations and individuals to participate in humanitarian activities organized by the National Society.
The National Society is a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, operates nationwide in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Law on Red Cross Activities, Decree No. 03/2011/NĐ-CP, dated January 7, 2011 of the Government detailing the implementation of the Law on Red Cross Activities, the National Society’s Statute and the Seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntariness, Unity, Universality.
