The Conference was attended by members of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society HQs, leaders of departments and units, as well as officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of the HQs Office of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, joining both at the in-person venue and online connection points.
Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Red Cross Society HQs – chaired the Conference.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh emphasized the special significance of the Conference, as it was held on the final working day of 2025—a moment to reflect on a year of dedicated efforts and contributions by the entire Society in fulfilling the tasks entrusted by the Party and the people. The organization of the Conference represents a concrete step in implementing the Resolutions and Guidelines of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front regarding the consultation process and the introduction of candidates for the 16th National Assembly.
In accordance with the allocation of quotas and the high consensus of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Executive Committee of the Party Organization of the VNRC Central Office, Madam Do Thi Thu Thao—Member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front and Central Mass Organizations, Secretary of the Party Committee, and President of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society—was introduced as a candidate for election to the 16th National Assembly for the 2026–2031 term.
At the Conference, voters listened to a report on the standards for National Assembly members and a brief biography of the nominee introduced for election. The Conference recorded 11 enthusiastic opinions from voters. All opinions focused on assessing President Do Thi Thu Thao as a cadre with strong political integrity, extensive practical experience from the grassroots to the central level, and an innovative, decisive, and hands-on approach to leadership and management.
Voters expressed their pride in the Society having a female leader nominated as a candidate, and at the same time voiced their expectation that she would serve as an important bridge to convey the voices of officials, members, and volunteers to the National Assembly, particularly through contributions to the amendment of the Law on Red Cross Activities.
After listening to the comments and expectations expressed by the voters, President Do Thi Thu Thao delivered remarks expressing her sincere appreciation for the trust and confidence of the collective of the Central Office of VNRC HQs.
At the conclusion of the Conference, the voters voted in favor of introducing President Do Thi Thu Thao as a candidate for election to the 16th National Assembly.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh emphasized that this outcome represents both recognition and great confidence placed by the voters of the VNRC Central Office in the President of the National Society. He requested the Organization and Inspection Department of the Viet Nam Red Cross Society HQs to complete the necessary documentation in preparation for the subsequent steps of the consultation process.
