In 2025, there were 1,746,286 units of blood donated. In which, over 98% of blood units are from voluntary blood donors; equivalent to nearly 1.75% of the population; the rate of repeat voluntary blood donors is nearly 67%; the rate of voluntary blood donors with a volume of 350ml or more reaches over 64%. Achieving this very encouraging result is the attention of the Party and State leaders; the participation of all levels and branches, and the close direction of the Party committee and the government; The Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization at all levels has been determined and strived to complete the set targets with many creative and innovative ways in a timely manner and received the active participation of population throughout the country.

Speaking at the Conference, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan emphasized that in 2025, in the context of the whole country restructuring administrative units, streamlining the apparatus and many localities heavily affected by natural disasters, storms and floods, the voluntary blood donation campaign was still be maintained stably, step by step effectively achieved its indicators; of which the movement has received strong support and attention of the leadership of the Party and the State, the participation of all levels and branches and the positive response of the population.
Minister Dao Hong Lan highly appreciated the core role of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization at all levels, in which the Vietnam Red Cross system plays an important focal point in promoting, mobilizing and building a sustainable blood donation force. Many large-scale blood donation campaigns and events continue to be effectively implemented, creating a deep spread in the community such as Red Spring Festival, Red Sunday, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 7/4, Red Journey, International Blood Donor Day 14/6.
In addition to the achieved results, the Minister of Health also pointed out a number of difficulties and challenges in the current voluntary blood donation campaign, such as the consolidation of the Steering Committee in some localities is still slow, the coordination between mobilization and blood receipt is not synchronized, etc; the application of information technology in management and communication on voluntary blood donation has not met the requirements of the new situation.

Implementing its plan in 2026, the National Steering Committee sets a goal, the whole country strives to receive about 1.95 million units of blood; The rate of voluntary blood donors will be 99%; the rate of repeat blood donors is over 67%; the proportion of the population donating blood is equivalent to 1.9%. In order to improve the efficiency of voluntary blood donors’ work and achieve the goals in the coming time, the Steering Committee for voluntary blood donors’ Mobilization at all levels strengthens communication in combination with mobilization and organization of blood donations, ensuring sufficient blood sources for emergency and treatment of patients in localities; coordinate with the health sector to develop a plan to receive blood in accordance with the needs of use, ensure adequate blood supply for on-site treatment, as well as support and coordinate blood nationwide; continue to propose amendments and supplements to mechanisms and policies on voluntary blood donors to suit the actual implementation situation.
Concluding the Conference, the Minister of Health expressed his belief that, with the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and determination of all levels, sectors and the whole society, the voluntary blood donation movement will continue to develop sustainably, contributing to ensuring sufficient blood sources for emergencies. treat and take care of people’s health in the coming time.
