On December 26th, Thua Thien Hue Red Cross held a conference to summarize the 10-year campaign “Every organization, each individual associated with a humanitarian address” in the period of 2008-2018; summarizing the organizations work and the campaign of voluntary blood donation in 2018, implementing the tasks of 2019. Attending and directing the conference were Mr. Nguyen Dung, Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Peoples Committee – Head of Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Thua Thien Hue Province.
Implementation of the campaign “Every organization, each individual associated with a humanitarian address”, the Red Cross Association at all levels has always focused on coordinating with other departments and unions to do well the propaganda work, calling for the sympathy of the people, thereby helping the regular donors to see the meaning of humanitarian work and responsibility to the community. Therefore, after 10 years of implementation, the campaign has provided timely support for 3,383 extremely difficult people with a total value of more than 20,242 billion VND, each address is supported more than 2.5 million VND per year. Some organizations have done well as Phong Dien district supported 500 addresses with a total amount of more than 900 million VND per year; Hue city supports 793 addresses with a total amount of more than 3 billion VND. Thereby, contributing to promoting the movement “Every body does good deeds, family does good deeds and organzation does good deeds”; improve capacity of mobilizing resources of Red Cross members, contributing to promoting the core role of the organization in humanitarian careers.
In 2018, the Red Cross movements were effectively implemented. In addition to strengthening the steering apparatus, actively promoting foreign affairs, propagating and mobilizing resources, the organization also effectively implemented movements and campaigns and achieved certain results. Typically, in the movement “Tet for the poor and the victims of Agent Orange” in the Year 2018, all levels of association cooperated to visit and give 45,776 gifts with a total value of more than VND 17,523 billion to poor and near poor households, Agent Orange victims, Red Cross members with difficult circumstances; mobilized and organized the building of 34 new houses, repaired 10 houses worth over VND 2.4 million; awarding 220 scholarships, supporting poor students; organized free medical examination and supply for 14,142 people, valued at VND 1,294 billion, responded to “Red Spring Festival”, the campaign “The Red blood drops in the summer of 2018”; during the day “All people voluntarily donate blood”, Red Cross branches at all levels actively implemented and coordinated the Blood Transfusion Center – Hue Central Hospital to receive 22,493 blood units. Especially in 2018, the organization organized a visit and working delegation in Salavan province (Laos) to sign a memorandum of cooperation and give 10 breeding cows worth VND 150 million, and hold a first aid training for 30 staff of Salavan Red Cross (Laos).
Addressing at the conference, the Vice Chairman of the provincial Peoples Committee suggested that the Red Cross at all levels should continue to focus on implementing the campaign “Every individual, each organization associated with humanitarian address”, campaigning for voluntary blood donation blood and Red Cross movement generally in the province in the future. In particular, focusing on strengthening the fundraising; using funds effectively, creating consensus among members and supporting the people; develop and implement well the content, programs and operational plans; promote propaganda activities on the Red Cross organization, Red Cross Law in various forms so that people understand and voluntarily participate in the organization of the Red Cross. The task of directing the implementation of projects and relief activities ensures publicity, transparency, and right target beneficiaries to create trust for organizations, donors and people.
On this occasion, 61 groups and 82 individuals received certificates of merit and medal from the Vietnam Red Cross, the provincial Peoples Committee and the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation for their outstanding achievements in the campaign “Each organization, each individual associated with a humanitarian address”, the Red Cross work and voluntary blood donation movement. Especially, Hue City Red Cross has been awarded the emulation flag by the Vietnam Red Cross for excellent organisation in Red Cross work and District Red Cross Movement for 5 consecutive years (2014-2018).
