On the morning of December 17th, the Opening Ceremony of the Program on Training, Retraining, Knowledge and Skills for Older People Care for the 1st Group (Kaigo Training) took place at the Vietnam Red Cross Training Center. The program co-ordinates with Asian Human Resource Development Training (AHTDO).

By the end of the course, nearly 20 graduates will become the first older people care workers to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills that can be applied and promoted in Vietnam and Japan. According to Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, President of Vietnam Red Cross – “This is a special job, the trainees need extensive knowledge, skill and skill, work with love, respect, willing to help, share with the older people.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mdm. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, President of Vietnam Red Cross Society; Ms. Tran Thi Hong An, Vice President of VNRC; Mr. Yoichiro – Managing Director of AHTDO; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dan, Director of Red Cross Training Center; 10 visiting lecturers and 17 trainees of the first training program of Kaigo.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Mdm. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, President of VNRC said: “With the current situation of training needs, human resources development is sufficient knowledge and skills to care for older people, people with disabilities are a big problem for not only other countries, but also in Vietnam. Based on the function and mission of VNRC in the field of community-based health care, VNRC coordinated with domestic and foreign partners to develop training programs of older people care (Kaigo training). The program is approved by the Government of Viet Nam, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs as the pilot program; At the same time, it marks the beginning of the Association gradually moving to self-control mechanism.

For the first course on this content, President Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu suggested: AHTDO Company and Training Center staff work together to comply with the law and regulations of VNRC to improve the quality of training human resources in general, human resources for older people care in particular, simultaneously develop this training model to the whole system of the Red Cross Association.
For teachers and students, Mdm. Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu wants teachers who have the knowledge and experience to regularly update knowledge, skills, sharing enthusiasm, impart knowledge to and a good example of ethics, self-study and creativity. This is all new knowledge and skills compared to Vietnam, hope that the trainees will help each other overcome difficulties, together strive, acquire knowledge and skills to understand later, to do the job. It is more important to pass on knowledge to the following courses.
At the Opening Ceremony, Mr. Yoichiro – Managing Director of Asian Human Resource Development Training (AHTDO) – would like to wish all students to study and improve their knowledge effectively. At the same time, we wish the Centre and VNRC will associate and cooperate sustainably and in the long term in the future. And hopefully, this training program is not only training in Hanoi but also extends to all other provinces in the country.

The program utilizing the textbook system developed by the Japanese Ehime Training Organization for the Care of the older people in Japan was approved by the Government of Vietnam. On this occasion, the Governor of Ehime Prefecture and the Mayor of Matsuyama City of Japan sent a congratulatory letter.
In the letter, Mr. Noshi Katsuhito, Mayor of Matsuyama City, stressed: “This is the first time the training program, training skills and skills of older people in Japan are deployed at the Training Center. This is a very deep meaning for the Red Cross staff in Vietnam, and we are very much looking forward to the trainees who will be able to apply what they have been trained in the older people care facilities”. Matsuyama city is an environment where older people care trainees can be received and is a place where older people care workers can choose to work.
