On February 18th, Hanoi Red Cross Chapter organized a campaign to register for donation of tissues and organs in the program “Spring of Love – Giving is forever”. Attending the program were Mr. Le Gia Tien, Head of Healthcare Department of Vietnam Red Cross; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc – Deputy Director of the National Center for Organ Transplant Coordination; Red Cross associations and units at all levels of Ha Noi Red Cross.

According to the Ministry of Health, over the past 25 years, since the first transplant was performed (in 1992), the number of organ transplants performed in Vietnam is still very small while the number of patients awaiting resources for tissue and organ transplantation are very large and are growing rapidly. Many patients with impaired heart, kidney, liver, and lung function … are daily, every hour must fight and fight to recapture life but very few of them have the opportunity to transplant tissues or organs because the number of donors is too scarce.

Mr. Nguyen Sy Truong, Chairman of Hanoi Red Cross Chapter launched the program “Spring of Love – Giving is forever”

Sharing at the program, Mr. Nguyen Sy Truong – Chairman of Hanoi Red Cross Chapter said: “Registering to donate tissues and organs after brain death, not only bringing life to others but also helping the society to be better and more humane, because when the demand for organ transplants increases, it can lead to organ trafficking which makes people to sell organs and many other negative things. Promoting the humanitarian tradition of the Vietnamese people, in 2019, the Hanoi Red Cross Chapter strives for 100% of the associations to propagate widely among the people and launch registration to donate tissues and organs; mobilizing at least 300 people to donate tissues and organs; Intergrating activities to launch registration to donate tissues and organs into activities to promote the day when people donate blood. The City Red Cross wishes to receive support, voluntary register to donate tissues and organs from Red Cross staff, members and volunteers as well as throughout the community to multiply more and more compassion, opening up many more opportunities for sick people who are facing daily illnesses. “
