"Rapid assessment of the market is one of the most important content of disaster response and the current global trend needs to develop widely," said Tran Quoc Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Red Cross at the opening ceremony of the training course for members who are cash focal persons and members of the disaster response team of a number of departments of provincial Chapters of Soc Trang, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Vinh Long, Yen Bai and Thua Thien Hue.
The "Rapid Market Assessment" (RAM) training took place from 26th to 29th November, 2018 in Hue, under the project "Capacity building on housing and cash" supported technically by the Swiss Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The training provided the trainees with basic knowledge related to the Rapid Market Assessment process in the context of a specific emergency: Determining the scope and content of the assessment; collect information; Data analysis, reporting and monitoring are equipped with assessment skills and methods such as teamwork, in-depth interviews, participatory information access, and so on.
With the knowledge and skills of the trainees, they will be the facilitators who advise the leaders on deciding on effective and appropriate types of response to the needs of the affected people after disaster. This activity will mark an important step in evaluating and deciding the implementation of the types and forms of relief that the Vietnam Red Cross will carry out in the future.
