On March 24, Hau Giang Red Cross Chapter held a ceremony to award scholarships for the second semester, the school year of 2018-2019 to 78 students in Vi Thuy district and Vi Thanh City.
Total funding of VND 123.8 million is funded by Viet Nam Scholarship Foundation (US). VNSF scholarships are awarded at the beginning of each semester of the school year. Each scholarship worth from 1 million to over 5 million. VNSF scholarships come to poor students in Hau Giang province from 2004 to the present with the desire to support 01 part of the study costs so that they can continue to go to school. Through the program, there have been more than 100 children supported every year. The program is committed to supporting the cost of learning for children until graduation. Up to now, there have been 13 students graduating from universities and having stable jobs, 02 students are studying at Can Tho University and 06 students are studying at colleges and intermediate schools in Hau Giang province.
All VNSF scholarship students are typical examples, making every effort to find a brighter future. It is also thanks to the attention of teachers, the timely help of the VNSF Scholarship Program, has encouraged the studious spirit, motivating them to overcome difficulties in life.
Mr. O Chi Thang is currently a student at Can Tho University representing the students sharing: “My family was very difficult in the past, my father died early, my mother had to sell lottery tickets to support my grandmother and me. The road to my school is full of thorns, it seems like I have to be in the middle of it, thanks to the VNSF scholarship, which has energized me, the year I was in the 6th grade, the program came and helped me realize my dream to University lecture".
