On March 26, in Quang Minh commune, Bac Quang district, the Vietnam Red Cross organized the Groundbreaking Ceremony to build the Red Cross Houses for disadvantaged veterans in Ha Giang province. This is a gift of gratitude to the soldiers returning from the war to protect the border (1979 - 1989) by former State President, Honorary President of the Vietnam Red Cross Truong Tan Sang (worth 10 billion VND).
In 2018, poor households in Ha Giang province were supported with 40 Red Cross houses from the Veterans' support funds of the Vietnam Red Cross. The ethnic minorities in the province contributed their work and materials to support the poor households to build the Red Cross Houses. Many touching stories about the interest of the Party, the State and the local people are transmitted by the media to the whole country. The model of the Red Cross Houses of the Vietnam Red Cross is spreading, bringing opportunities for poor households who still have difficulties in housing to be supported by organizations and sponsors.
This year with the program of 200 Red Cross houses from the mobilization of the former State President, Honorary President of Vietnam Red Cross Truong Tan Sang together with the active participation of Ha Giang Red Cross and Ha Giang Veterans Association. The review of Veterans participating in the border protection war between 1979 and 1989 under difficult circumstances was carried out from the grassroots level. The Ha Giang Red Cross Association reviews (people's identity cards, original documents on military participation, certificates of land use rights ...), pictures of support recipients and the houses before being built.
