On January 29th, 2019, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Tay Ninh Province, leaders of the Vietnam Red Cross visited and presented Tet gifts to poor households and Agent Orange victims in Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan, Member of the Politburo and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee kindly inquiried about the health and life of policy preferential treatment households in difficult circumstances in Ben Cau district - a rural area and border district of Tay Ninh province. He highly appreciated the efforts of leaders and people in Tay Ninh province and Ben Cau district in maintaining the border area in the southwest of the country; implementing a meaningful program "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange", bringing warm spring to difficult circumstances in all rural areas of Tay Ninh province in general and Ben Cau district in particular.
Joining the delegation were leaders of the Red Cross of Tay Ninh province and Ho Chi Minh City, the sponsor's representative. Here, the delegation gave 100 Tet gifts to disadvantaged households and Agent Orange victims, each of which included VND 1.5 million and 01 Tet gift bag, with a total value of VND 160 million.
On the same day, Vice President of the Vietnam Red Cross Tran Thi Hong An visited and gave gifts to the excellent students at Nguyen Trung Truc High School, Hoa Thanh District. She awarded 40 scholarships to the children, worth VND 500,000 per scholarship. At the ceremony, the leaders of the Vietnam Red Cross congratulated the new year and wished the teachers and students of the school to strive to achieve good academic results for the 2018 - 2019 school year and the following years.
As of the end of 29th January 2019, Tay Ninh Red Cross Chapter has awarded 27,927 Tet gifts, worth VND 8.8 billion for poor households and Agent Orange victims in all districts and towns, city of Tay Ninh province. The practical activities of caring for the poor and victims of Agent Orange in Tay Ninh province continue to take place in the days of Tet holidays.
